What a great day to be a Cyclone fan! Not only did we beat number two ranked OSU, but we are now bowl bound! I had goose bumps watching this game last night. And through technology I got to “virtually” watch the game with dozens of my friends and fellow alum through the miracle of facbook and SMS. I hope Ames wasn’t burned to the ground last night? That place had to be crazy! What a great start to my weekend!

A couple of weeks ago I received a free sample of Axe Hold and Touch Hair Gel. I must say, I was very pleasantly surprised with this product. I wouldn’t call it “gel”. It’s a cross of pomade and hair gel. Unlike pomade the constancy is similar to toothpaste at the same time a little stiffer and dryer than a gel. I’ve never liked pomade. It always left my hair feeling waxy and was never easy to work with. Axe Hold and Touch Hair Gel really is the best of both worlds. It was very easy to work with, not too wet, not too dry. It did a great job of holding my hair all day and damp hands later in the day will do a nice refresh. While I don’t really spike my hair, this product would hold in a spiked messy kind of ‘do. It was light and my hair really was touchable all day. I might have actually found a new hair product!
I would link to the product page on the Axe website for more information, but www. theaxeeffect.com is an absolutely horrible website that is hard to navigate and doesn’t really provide any usable product info.

An Amazing Throwable Ball / Camera that captures a full 360 Degree spherical panorama when thrown into the air. This prototype was developed by Marc Alexa, Bernd Bickel, Carsten Gremzow, Kristian Hildebrand, and Jonas Pfeil. The panoramic camera has 36 digital cameras layered in an protective foam shell. The photographer simply gives the ball a toss. When the camera/ball reaches its apex (the highest point in the flight path) it automatically snaps 360 simultaneous photos and stitches them together to provide breathtaking images. You have to see it to believe it:

I am a college senior, about to graduate complete debt free.
I pay for all of my living expenses by working 30+ hours a week making barely above minimum wag.
I chose a moderately priced, in-stat public university I started saving $ for school at age 17.
I got decent grades in high school & received 2 scholar-ships which cover 90% of my tuition.
I currently have a 3.8 GPA
I live comfortably in a cheap apt, knowing I can’t have everything I want. I don’t eat out every day, or even once a month. I have no credit card, new car, iPad or smart phone – and I’m perfectly OK with that.
If I did have debt, I would not blame Wall St or the government for my own bad decisions.
I live below my means to continue saving for the future.
I expect nothing to be handed to me, and will continue to work my @$$ off for everything I have.
That’s how it’s supposed to work.
I am NOT the 99% and whether or not you are is YOUR decision.

A very funny, but very true and well articulated rant about the current state of our economy and US government. This rant called Stop It B! OBAMA PAY YOUR &*%$#% BILLS is by Felonious Munk. Balance the &*%$#% budget! We all have to balance our checkbooks, why can’t the government? How am I supposed to tell my child capitalism is a better than communism when we are borrowing all of our &*%$#% money from China, the largest communist system in the world? What is the governments Credit Score? 310? Caution, contains adult language.

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

I am currently reading Fascinate: Your 7 Triggers to Persuasion and Captivation. I’m not 100% sold on all of the ideas, but overall sold book and has been great at getting me to refocus on some of the core principles of branding, marketing, and promotion. I just completed my Fscore personality test on http://sallyhogshead.com. Here are my results:
YOUR PRIMARY TRIGGER: POWER
You, my friend, are an alpha dog: an authority of the group, and in control of your actions.
Blindly following someone else’s orders? No, thanks. You prefer to actively lead situations, rather than sitting back and passively watching from the back row. You’ll follow other people’s rules, if needed, but you prefer to define a new set of rules on your own terms. You exude influence, compelling others to pay attention. Your strong opinions and bold action often spark reactions from others.
Your messages command influence, and your opinion carries weight. When you excel in positions of leadership, others look to you for cues of how to behave. By steering your use of power productively toward your goals, you’ll become more motivating and inspirational.
At times, perhaps, you’re intimidating or even overbearing. When you expect others to obey your message, you define deadlines and demands of the alarm trigger to make them comply. Make sure that you’re also using the trust trigger, to help others feel more comfortable.
You’re a natural leader, and comfortable with authority, making you well-suited to creating messages that inspire large groups. Next step? Hone your power trigger for greater respect, bigger audiences, and more loyal advocates.
You know the expression “keeping up the Joneses”? If prestige is your secondary trigger, the Joneses probably want to keep up with you.
Discerning and ambitious, your plans might seem impossible to others, but you think big. You’re highly aspirational, and unafraid of goals. Even if you don’t care for overt displays of wealth or status, you appreciate the meaning behind symbols of achievement. You value the respect of others, and work to maintain a certain standing.
You’re motivated by the admiration of your peers, and most likely, your peers are motivated by you. People in your group watch what you’re saying and doing, measuring themselves in relation to you, seeking cues of their own standing within the group. Keep in mind: Prestigious people can evoke admiration, but also competition and envy.
Among corporate circles, fascination might be triggered by a framed Princeton diploma or an invitation to speak at the TED conference. In a second-grade classroom, the same status might mean winning a round of Spore video game. Both represent achievement, and carry implied “value” to the group.
Just as prestigious brands and objects hold a greater value, so do prestigious people. Become attuned to the ways in which you’re applying your innate prestigious charisma to make your personal brand more valuable.
